Maribeth Boelts

School visits to inspire, instruct and encourage young readers and writers!

Award-winning author Maribeth Boelts has written over 25 books for children. Her best-selling picture book, "Those Shoes" is used for character education in the US and abroad. "Before You Were Mine" received the ASPCA Henry Bergh award and The Human Society of the United States Kind Award. Her new middle grade novel, "The PS Brothers" was a Junior Library Guild selection. A 2011 school visit received this review: "Our students and staff thoroughly enjoyed Maribeth Boelts' three-day visits to our schools. Teachers appreciated her emphasis on the elements of a good story, leaving the students with an action-jingle to help them remember. As a teacher librarian I have been able to refer to her talk as I work with the students, 'This reminds me of what Maribeth shared with us!' The students make an instant connection. She remained patient, enthusiastic, and full of energy. She impressed us all with how she could relate easily with the preschoolers thru fifth graders, keeping their attention and interest in settings that were sometimes less than ideal. Maribeth is a fun author to host! Your school community will be talking about her visit long after she has gone home."
