How to Write a Children's Book

Nancy Gee is an award-winning children's author who lives in the Chicago area. Her children's picture books are based on true events. In an interview with Foreword Reviews, she explained that "each child should take away some piece of knowledge [from a book]. It might be a flying squirrel fact or maybe how friends can help us when we have a problem. I want all of my books to provide an entertaining way for children and parents to share knowledge, ask questions, and laugh, too." In writing her second book, Nancy incorporated an idea a young reader had given her: let us help. She conducts school visits with her works in progress to show children how books go from idea to printed page. In addition to writing for and reading with children, Nancy also teaches a class for writers who want to become children's authors. When Nancy is not writing, she runs her own company. She has owned and operated Maywood Industries in the Chicago area for more than 30 years.
